Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo flooring is uniquely different to traditional hardwood flooring with unsurpassed elegant style, durability & exceptional beauty, whilst offering peace of mind backed by our Manufacturer’s Australian warranty.

RENEWABLE RESOURCE –  Bamboo is actually a giant grass that has been around for 200 million years which after full growth before harvesting is denser and stronger than traditional hardwoods.  A truly natural renewable resource that replaces itself every 5-6 years providing food, employment and housing to the farmers and factory workers.

STRENGTH & DURABILITY – one of the strongest building materials in the world with tensile strength per 28,000 per square inch rivaling steel at 23,000.  It’s important when choosing your floor to consider the hardness.  A Janka rating measures the force required to dent timber, the Moso Strand Woven Bamboo is the second hardest flooring in the world.

STYLE – special grains and colours are represented by the very distinctive styles and options available, each uniquely different.

COLOUR – from a process called carbonization.  Bamboo is similar to sugar cane and is coloured by a steaming process during manufacturing, like burning the sugar or caramelizing in cooking terms. This process sets the colour so that later when you do need to re-sand the colour remains the same.  It is not a stain but ‘carbonised’ or if you like colour all through the boards.

FINISHES – pre-finished or unfinished.  Factory finished or raw, the choice is yours.  Finishes can be Matt, Semi-Gloss, ready to walk on after installation, or maybe you would prefer raw unfinished boards for those who like the traditional method polishing on site, these boards can also be waxed or tung oiled.

PROCESS – 1 Bamboo harvesting → 2 Skin/Inside Knot Removable → 3. Anti-Insect Treatment & Carbonisation → 4. Drying → 5. Veneering → 6. Cutting → 7. Planing  → 8. Sizing → 9. Molding → 10. Sanding → 11. Coating → 12. Colour separation → 13. Packing → 14. Storing

COMPARABLE – in price to traditional hardwood flooring and floating hardwood flooring. The properties of bamboo that make it regenerate rapidly make it a serious alternative, saving our Australian forests for future generations. When Mosowood is compared with traditional hardwood flooring you can see from the Stiletto Hardness Rating (click for the rating) that it is the second hardest merchantable timber in the world.
Price is always an issue but when compared to any hardwood floor is generally less expensive by 10% to 30% depending on the timber species.
Timber floors have 3 grades such as Select Grade (very little feature), Standard (has feature vein line faults) and Feature (builders quality) what is left over from Select and Standard showing a lot of vein lines and is sold at a price point with many faults causing wastage.
Mosowood Bamboo is far more uniform and Select Grade all times.

TERMITE RESISTANCE – 99.9% retardant against known insects.

QUALITY & CONFIDENCE – exceeds the very stringent European and Japanese E1 formaldehyde emission standard, quality tested and certified to comply with international quality standards ISO 9001 and environmental standards ISO 14001.

GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia) quality environmental performance criteria.

Our manufacturing factory is now producing bamboo products using  E0 zero urea formaldehyde free adhesive and finishes.
